When you get ready on your wedding day, surrounded by those few people who are closest to you, you want it to be a fun and memorable way to start the day! Most couples now are choosing to get ready in Airbnb’s or large hotel suites rather than at their own home.
The best things about getting ready for your wedding at a nice Airbnb or large hotel suite are all about reducing stress. Choosing a location that is much closer to your wedding venue, or taking advantage of an uncluttered, bright, and fresh space, which you’ll find is usually a lot more relaxing than home. There are a few other bonuses to this solution too, like not having random family & neighbors stop by. In general, fewer disruptions and distractions during your preparation and more room for the hair & makeup artists to work, and so on.
When preparing for your wedding day, it’s always good to have a some emergency supplies & a few luxuries on-hand. A “wedding day first aid kit” just in case the unexpected takes place, things that may come in handy during getting ready, but that you can also take with you as might be needed during the full wedding day.
Enter, the “Wedding Day First Aid Kit”.
If there is one thing that is certain, it’s that at every wedding something unexpected will come up, that’s just how it goes. Thankfully these things are generally very minor issues that are easily fixed by being prepared. Just a little bit of preparation goes a long way.
The only way to save yourself from headaches on your wedding day is preparation, and if Murphy’s Law has made one thing known, it’s that if you’re ready for it, you won’t need any of the emergency supplies. But, who will complain about that – a no-stress wedding day sounds great, doesn’t it!?
A Wedding Day First Aid Kit is a wonderful collection of items to have at your disposal, from makeup & hair in the morning to the last dance at the end of the night. You’ll be free to enjoy your loved ones without the worry of what to do if your zipper breaks when getting into your dress, a groomsman splits his pants during a dramatic entrance to the reception, your almost sister-in-law feels faint because she skipped breakfast, or your husband-to-be gets a crushing headache. Yeah, I’ve seen these things at hundreds of weddings I’ve been a part of, and several other little “bumps in the road” like them.
A few of the items on the list below you probably will just naturally have with you anyway, but having it pulled together in one place in convenient box, means it’s readily on-hand when someone needs it most. The things don’t have to be expensive, or fancy at all, but just a few basics could save you a bit of stress, and the awkward moment of having to send your aunt out to the drug store to save the day at the last minute.
Here are a few of the basics of what I’d recommend purchasing or pulling together to create your own Wedding Day First Aid Kit. Remember, this is just a guide. Build your kit to your and group’s needs. The more personal, the better!
Here’s the Essentials for your kit:
Tissues: To mop up all those happy tears

Protein Bar or Snacks: Someone’s always so excited they forgot to eat
Gorilla Glue Super Glue: Fixes broken shoes, fallen jewels or damaged decorations

Allergy Medicine (Claritin, etc): Puffy eyes strike at the worst of times

And maybe some Optional Extras…
Body Glide: Great for keeping the chafe away when it’s a bit too warm outside
Straws: Keeps that lipstick off your champagne glass
Cash/Card: What if the drink you want isn’t on the tab, or you *need* a cheeseburger run on the way to the next location
Eye Drops: For tired, dry eyes (caused by the pre-wedding celebrations maybe?!)
Moisturizer: Dry hands and legs can be uncomfortable and it helps to beat the static cling
Baby Wipes: For spills and marks
Crochet Hook: If you have a button-up dress
Toothbrush & Toothpaste: Whether an excited bride forgot to brush or a forgetful groomsman forgot to pack his
Chocolate: Keeps the hangry at bay
What about the guys?…
This list is targeted for the ladies, the men shouldn’t feel left out. This is a great idea for you too. For the gentlemen, swap out a few items not needed above, and throw in some spare matching socks, maybe an extra belt, a spare set of cuff-links, mini bottle of mouthwash, nail clippers, cologne, hair wax, etc, and you’re all set!
That’s all. A simple tool kit, that can be a life saver and a luxury on your wedding day!
