Anna & Stephan are a couple that may be as in love with the St. Lawrence River as they are with each other and that’s exactly why they decided to hold their wedding celebration at her family’s property on Grindstone Island, just a short boat ride from Clayton, NY.

Stephan got ready at a small cottage on the property that has been converted from an old workshop!
I loved the rings on the rope necklaces for the ring bearers ring leaders (the self-proclaimed title that the two boys came up with!)In following with the island/boat theme for the wedding, Anna’s shoes were gold Docksiders! You’d never know it by the style but Anna’s dress was also her great aunt’s wedding dress from the 1930’s!Islanders are a close knit bunch and that’s what brought Anna to getting ready for the wedding day at the neighbor’s home. It was obvious that everyone was right at home with each other, just like family!
All of the details of the day were pulled together by Stephan & Anna’s friends and family. A group of about 24 people who took care of everything from decorating, to cooking up the delicious gumbo, to keeping everything on track schedule wise. An amazing job accomplished by a fun group of people!
People showed up to the wedding in all different form of transportation! Some people walked from nearby homes, some people rode in on all-terrain work vehicles, some boated, there was one kayaker, and whole bunch of people that caught the charter from Clayton Island Tours!Anna though, she rode in to the wedding chauffeured by her father in the family’s “work boat.” The work boat has been a part of the family for a century and was in integral part of building up the property! In another unique twist, Anna was greeted at the wedding ceremony by a group of women who are important to her. Each of these flower maids/matrons handed over a small part of what would become Anna’s bouquet before she headed down the aisle! Edith & Bennett provided the music for the ceremony and you’ll see them again later as they pulled together a small group of friends to form a string band for reception entertainment!Around every corner with Anna & Stephan is another story and the rings are no exception! When Stephan proposed to Anna, he gave her a zip tie “ring,” so when Stephan later designed Anna’s engagement ring, he formed it after a zip tie! Stephan then designed the wedding bands too which were also zip tie inspired!
The night was capped off with a fun fireworks display as a way to celebrate Anna & Stephan’s new marriage as well as to thank their friends and family for trekking out to Grindstone Island in order to be with their with them!
I’m pretty sure that I was the only person at the wedding that wasn’t friend or family, it was certainly an honor to be a part of this Thousand Islands wedding for Anna & Stephan!
